Overview: We have used Hemp Fortex since 2017. Hemp Fortex, based in Qingdao, China, was founded in 1999 with the idea that fabrics can be environmentally friendly and still meet the strict requirements of the apparel industry for fashion, innovation, performance, quality and delivery. They call it conscience without compromise. Hemp Fortex is a vertically integrated manufacturer and converter. This gives them stewardship over every part of the process. They source the best and most environmentally friendly fibers, spin the highest quality yarn, and knit and weave fabrics that are both fashion right and eco friendly. They work only with their own manufacturing facilities or facilities where carefully audited, long standing relationships and their own QC staff ensure that strict standards are met.. They use only EU approved dyes and chemicals in dyeing and finishing and carefully monitor and control wastewater.

Fibers: Hemp - Grown since 8000 BC, Hemp is the first plant cultivated for textiles; Hemp is resistant to pests and grows too densely to permit weed growth so it needs no pesticides or herbicides, in fact no chemicals of any kind. It is the strongest natural fiber, naturally antimicrobial and resistant to UV. It is amazingly comfortable, breathable and cool to the touch. Organic Cotton - Conventional cotton growing releases more toxins into the world’s water than any other crop grown. But cotton can be grown without harmful chemicals, and our organic cotton is. It also has everything you look for in fine cotton; it is soft, comfortable, breathable and washable. Choosing organic cotton makes a real difference to your impact on the Earth. Repreve Recycled Polyester - Over 800 million tons of plastic bottles end up in landfill each year. Recycling the PET from plastic bottles into fiber not only reduces landfill, it causes far less air pollution than making new PET. Our recycled PET fiber is performance fiber; strong and durable, yet soft. It wicks away moisture and guarantees easy care.

Social Compliance: Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is an independent, non-profit organization that works with companies and factories to improve labor conditions for garment workers. FWF is active in 15 production countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. Hemp Fortex became its 2nd factory member in June of 2011.
