Week of Winter Solstice

We don’t know how long the solstices have been celebrated for, but we know that we are just the group to continue the tradition. On Wednesday, December 21st, we will have the opportunity to celebrate the Winter Solstice, together, as a collective outdoor community. The Winter Solstice (also known as the hibernal solstice) is a special day for lovers of the changing seasons, and the ever-changing character of nature in general. It marks the longest day of darkness in the year. Or, depending on how you look at it, the shortest day of light.

However you choose to view it, it’s a special day that marks the turning point on the Earth’s journey around sun. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the days get shorter and shorter as darkness comes earlier and earlier in the day before the Winter Solstice. But after, light returns. Each day becomes progressively more filled with light, all the way through the Vernal Equinox, culminating it’s campaign with the Summer Solstice.
