This Week In Basecamp: Trek Prep

With fall foliage still clinging to the branches for it’s final dance, now is the perfect time to trek into the trails of your area. FC Basecamp has just what you need to hit the trailhead.

Trekking Necessity #1: Backpacks

Hailing all the way from Sweden, Fayettechill is proud to introduce Fjallraven Backpacks! A Basecamp exclusive, our primary focus is the original Kanken backpack- inspired by the Swedish school children of the 1970’s, the durability has sustained a stylized bag that holds up 40 years later. Basecamp currently has the Kanken, the Kanken 15” for laptops, the vintage-styled No. 21 Rucksack, and a more technical daypack- the Skule 30L.

For longer journeys, try Fayettechill’s very own Journeyman Dry-bag backpack. Living up to it’s name, this bag is durable and meant for adventure while providing protection for all things enclosed within it’s roll-top, waterproof body. Made with a polyester fabric that’s been protectively laminated, this bad boy can house up to 25 liters of street or trail necessities alike. With a removable sleeve to keep your laptop in, you'll find dry protection up and away from your smelly socks or leaky water bottle.
As if the incentive to be out in nature isn't enough, we're offering a free long sleeve tee with the purchase of any backpack purchase over $100. Buy any backpack, regardless of price and we'll give you a free hat / beanie!

Trekking Necessity #2: Comfortable Layers

Might we suggest the long (or short) sleeve featuring our backpacking friend, Rusty? Designed by local artist, Chad Maupin, the Rusty tee showcases the exact feels we get when heading into the wilderness.

For the colder days out in the wilderness, layer up with the Local Dave, a sherpa lined flannel that can handle the ruggedness of the forest and the coziness you wish to feel at the end of the day around a campfire.

Trekking Necessity #3: Boots

And don’t forget, we’ve finally added hiking boots to the FC Basecamp lineup! Hiking trails can be one of the most magical excursions, but the magic certainly wears off when blisters wear in, or soles wear down. That said, a trekking must is proper footwear. If you missed the previous Basecamp blog post, check out the write up on Ridgemont’s hiking boots now carried within the walls and grab a pair before your next venture out. Happy trekking, friends!
